I have tried to boot older kernel versions (instead of the current
2.6.24-3):
2.6.24-2: Problem persists.
2.6.22-14 (Kernel of Gutsy): HPLIP correctly detects the printers
So as a workaround one can simply boot the Gutsy kernel on Hardy systems
which were updated from Gutsy.

new 2.6.24 kernel has changed the internal structure of the /sys/ file
system which can perhaps interfere with the device detection by HPLIP.
Consider also using HAL for device detection.

I open rhythmbox , and select a list of songs to play. Plays the 1rst song OK,
but when I try to skip to the next song (button >>), rhythmbox freezes, and I
have to restart rhythmbox.

Issuing the command '$when -e' to start the editor to edit events in the
calender gives the error message 'Option editor requires an argument' even

I contacted the package maintainer, Martin Pitt, and he suggested adding
the repo for daily snapshots to sources.list:

The version there (currently 08/01/2008) works correctly, however after
adding the new apt source it wouldn't recog
As a comment, Debian's cdda2wav is nowadays a dummy package from the
same cdrkit source package that icedax is from, and points to icedax.
There will be a Debian update of xcdroast that depends on icedax
directly, instead of cdda2wav.

card. I have tested installing Feisty release but my wireless card was
not recognized properly. I have tested also Hardy but I have the same
problem.

I've tried to reproduce this with dapper and gutsy but both works fine
what i did was: installed kdm and then test with the command Jonathan
commented (mkfifo ~/.face.icon) but i see no changes on KDM, is there
something else that should be installed or update the test case? thanks.

Hi Adrian,
I think the problem got fixed in later versions, yours are rather old. Try svn
trunk
instead. With that you can do 'make distfiles' to generate files for the
package
manager in question. On gutsy it would create debs.
