I've been working by connecting gdb to the Xorg started by gdm so far.

Fr Ch, I seem to have managed to fix the problem by using Gutsy's 386
kernel. Still, this is not an ideal solution for me as I am now unable
to use both of my CPU cores.

install Gtkam and, although some of the packages necessary weren't
authenticated, went ahead with the install. The main program selection
menu disappeared from the Mint 3.0 Ca
Just a little note: If you have package «ubuntu-dev-tools» installed,
executing «update-maintainer» on the source directory will automatically
change the Maintainer field, if needed. You don't have to use it, of
course, but I tell you for the case you're interested ;).
