Update: I finally resolved it, I'm not sure exactly how, but some of the
things I did were:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure synaptic

and finally it worked (I had done the "dpkg -C" and "a

This dongle is a dtv tuner and remote in one. I couldn't find a
lircd.conf for it. I've used one for a different remote which I thought

I have actually had one incident with Xgl peaking with effects on (and
firefox open, dont know what it was doing though).

through nautilus-cd-burner. Data disks copy fine, region-free dvds copy
as well. However, attempting to copy region encoded DVDs results in a

I've also got problems printing from evince to an HP LaserJet 4350 in
gutsy (it was fine in feisty). A PDF keeps printing only the first 4
pages (of 15)! Printing the same document from kpdf works fine.

I get exactly the same problem on two machines on my network. Others
have upgraded with no problems. I have verified there are no third party
repositories listed and also that only the standard two ubuntu GPG
authentication keys are registered.

installed.The problem seems to have disappeared so I don,t know what
caused it but it occured even after several reboots.I should have

"/etc/network/interfaces" directly with a manual startup each time the
computer is turned on.

As outlined in the second half of

experiencing what I believe to be the same problem. My university network uses
WPA with LDAP user authentication, so it took quite some configuring of
/etc/network/interfaces in Gutsy
Same Issue fresh install of gusty 7.10 and all updates.. installed nvidia
driver and i can play back in vlc fine .. but in mythtv .. live tv and rec
programes i get the same issue that you all are taking about .. colors all over
the screen ...

I have a similar problem in Gutsy (not in Feisty) to Kevin. When I
adjust the volume with the keyboard the volume adjustment is erratic (it
might go up or down, turn off the left channel, etc). Sometime
adjusting the volume with the applet is better but if I'm using Totem
while adjusting it does

I'm having the same problem. No sound with Firefox 2.0.0.8 and
flashplugin-nonfree v9 on 64-bit Ubuntu v.7.10 'Gutsy'. nspluginwrapper
