I tried debian etch, debian sarge, and ubuntu 7.10 . I was about to download

I switched to single user mode, using 'sudo telinit 1' and the clicking
continued.
While in single user mode, I ran

I am getting this in gutsy with network manager with the PPTP plugin.
when i connect to a windows vpn server it overwrites my local resolv.conf with
a blank one. I can then edit details back in.
when disconnecting the vpn it puts the original resolv.conf back and overwrites

I've had trouble getting dmix and 5.1 surround sound to work for the longest
time on my nForce4 based onboard sound card. Changing .asoundrc to the attached
