With Ubuntu 7.04 the sound worked fine on my dv6543 after I re-compiled
to the latest alsa driver. On Ubuntu 7.10 tribe 4 I managed to get the
sound working with the attached patch, but with the 7.10 beta this patch
did not work.

used Shirish Agarwal's ( 2007-06-28 ) solution:
sudo killall apt apt-get aptitude
and resolved (no reboot/logout were needed).

I beg to differ, that patch is not needed - it is only a alternative to
adding 'option "XAANoOffScreenPixmaps"' to xorg.conf. So, to avoid
entering a line in xorg.conf if you still use XAA (soon to be obsolete),
everyone using EXA (which is the future direction of X acceleration) has
to rebuild his

Solved by copying /lib/modules/* to /target/lib/modules under the
installer. The kernel & modules were not installed when initramfs-tools
was trying to build the initrd, so it failed.

In the latest Gutsy kernel images (looking at 2.6.22-13 here) vesafb is
no longer compiled into the kernel image as it was when this bug was

I was setting up the board for the end-game problem that came in today's
paper, and I noticed the 100% CPU
Happened to me too. I read online that this option would multi-thread
the boot up and speed it up. I'm running an Opteron 165 dual core with
Gutsy x64.
Setting the /etc/init.d/rc back to "concurrency=none" fixed the issue.

I have just purchased a new PC with dual CPUs on the Gigabyte 965P motherboard.

Is strange because i create this folder with dolphin and i use utf-8 and
no iso-8859-7.I dont change the system encoding and the problem exist
only to these programs.I have attach some screenshot from the

Just dist-upgraded to gutsy, and Rhythmbox wont play anything if the
visualization plugin is enabled, regardless of other video apps playing
or not. If RB is loaded, Totem complains another video app has grabbed
the video overlay, but plays anyway.
