I blame libxml2 at the moment as its definitely got major problems and
evolution was definitely using it when it crashed. If this problem
continues after the libxml2 stuff is fixed I will try the backtrace then
but till then I don't think its worth chasing the same problem twice.

Please go back and read the entire report. A signal 15 error is a generic
"can't connect", and is usually because GRE is being firewalled on the way
somewhere.

Wait, the problem only occurs when dual screens are used, not when a
single screen is used. Note also that I'm not using Twinview so I have
two separate screens. I use that because I don't like the top and
bottom panels extending the full range across both monitors.

This is almost always caused by running the Kubuntu service manager, and
hitting some button in there that I don't know about. You've probably
got a udev init script in both rcS.d and rc2.d
Could you give me the output of ls /etc/rcS.d /etc/rc2.d

The problem is that pycentral does call dpkg-querry with a absolute path
and the installed version of dpkg does not support the dpkg triggers
status flags. This makes the pycentral scripts fail:
/usr/bin/pycentral:
cmd = ['/usr/bin/dpkg-query', '-L', self.name]

The correct dpkg that supports triggers is in $PATH, I think the correct
solution here is to pre-depend in pycentral on a dpkg version that
supports triggers.

Yes, you're right, the marking is counter-productive. It was done by too
many people: One marked a gnome bug as a duplicate of a kdebase-bug,
then I added gnome-power-manager, then it was marked as invalid for kde
and 'fix released' for gnome by someone else, then I reopened it for
gnome-power-mana
same thing here with nvidia-glx-new, I always have to click somewhere on
the desktop first in order to make the bottom panel appear. BUT: This
problem wasn't there in tribe-5/6 for me! So what was changed?

renaming the .part-part away (this does not happen when selecting "Save Link
