First off, a periodic fsck does not address the problem of data
integrity. It's there to make sure that the filesystem is consistent.

This is weird. I've been experimenting a little, and it seems openoffice
doesn't like some of the gtk themes available. I switched from LiNsta3
to LiNsta2 and it once again, it froze. Then I changed to standard
Clearlooks, and behold - It works!

via Xgl's OpenGL library (which does have vendor = SGI). It is hardware

Did you try adding ec_intr=0 to your kernel boot options? I have a thinkpad
R40e as well and adding that has been a good workaround!

I have just re-upgraded my Gutsy (it seems more gnome libs are upgraded) and
problem is disappared.

This will probably be taken care of when we merge with the Debian squeak
packages. I'm still uncertain whether 2 menu entires are indeed a
problem. Squeak fits in both categories, IMO.

I can't really test this at the moment. But I found directions for
patching the nvidia kernel module for the rt kernel here:
