Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: openoffice.org
Inserting a non-breaking dash (Shift+Strg+minus) does not work in OO-
Draw and OO-Writer for the package openoffice.org 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 .
Couldn't find the bug described elsewhere. My apologies if I overlook a
previous report.

So you have problem only with amd64 system. Could you try to do a system
upgrade (e.g using 'sudo apt-get update' and next 'sudo apt-get upgrade' or
through Adept)? Which version of Adept has this issue (use 'dpkg -l adept' to
show this)?
Thanks for your help.
