I've been having the same error message, and my Intel IPW3945 Wireless
adapter would be extremely hard to get working. I would have to modprobe
and other manual things, and still it wouldn't work.
I'm using a custom 2.6.23-rc3 git kernel (kernel.org). The module
(ipw3945) would load, and so would

The issue has nothing to do with the xll config file, and everything with GDM
I have disabled GDM and ran startxfce4 (xubuntu) and the fonts were fine.

As I also own a Z61m but use Gentoo on it... I just tried an upgrade to
2.6.22, and I noticed just like [1] that the new SLUB allocator breaks
fglrx. Reverting to SLAB fixes the problem for me and I can
suspend/resume just fine.
Ubuntu sets CONFIG_SLUB=y in its generic 2.6.22 kernel. If this would

OK. After a huge effort I managed to get a Valgrind log. It's
extreemly slow to run Valgrind :-)

No freeze in about an hour, means it is gone (was getting freezes by the
seconds).
So, I guess this was indeed caused by caching and that particular HD?
Or, could it be some other configuration file (gnome or xorg related)?

Thank you for the reply. I could not figure out this change. The man
page still reports that bitrates are set in kbit/s:
-ab bitrate
Set the audio bitrate in kbit/s (default = 64).
This should be fixed.
