Sorry, but it didnt happen again. I downloaded the updates and it asked
me for a restart which it did and then after the gdm login, I got at

yes I realised it too. Got at least 30 of them one after the other so
stopped immediately. It happened only after the reboot after the update,
subsequent logins are ok. Whats strange is I started receiving crash
reports of apps that were not even running.

Just received the same on Debian sid FWIW. x86-64 when I pasted a link
into the browser (to open a new window).
I've noticed this happening a fair bit - I wonder if perhaps gnash
(cvs20070512.1554-1) is partly to blame. .xsession-errors:
