desktop and work around with me...

Well after spending a few more minutes working on it they are now working.
I'm not sure what fixed it other than I rebooted since the last time I
tried. Maybe that did it maybe not... but either way they are working now.

I don't know enough about qBittorrent but could you not rename the
libtorrent.so (even if it as to be included in the qbittorrent package
and compiled specifically for it)?

Hi,
I've done everything and bundled it up in the attached tar file. There
is no devices.txt since there are no /dev/sd* devices even when the
stick is plugged in. hald doesn't say anything after the usual startup
mess, i.e. everything in hal.log is from _before_ attaching the stick.

Maybe this will help. I have the same problem on my HP Pavilion dv8000
with a Radeon Xpress 200M. In my case, I've never been able to get 3D
working, but I expect that's an unrelated problem. 2D rendering slowed
down dramatically with my upgrade to Feisty.

James, could you possibly try with 2.5.0.0 but from the site rather than
repositories. I'm sure that someone said that this version worked too,
it would be good to clarify that it's getting it from the site, rather
than the new version as such that solves the problem. (or not).

I always reduce the font resolution (dots per inch) from 96 to 80, because I
find the default size way too big.
In the new versions of Firefox and Thunderbird (today's updates), the font size
is much smaller than in the rest of the system.

I confirm that I have the same problem on Ubuntu server 7.04 amd64 with
3 md partitions. When we stop the server first md array (md0) is stopped
correctly, but the second md1 (swap partition) and the third md2 (lvm
array) fails.

When I try to open PDF either from web browser (Epiphany) or by first
starting Evince from bash and opening PDF from disk it gets stuck. In

I can confirm this bug still being present in Feisty, although it manifested
itself only after a while.
Feisty is installed here from a clean Kubuntu install, after which the
ubuntu-desktop package was installed and gdm+gnome+metacity became the default
environment (the reason why I installed it

After switching around icon themes in Xubuntu (Edgy Eft with latest updates),
the xfce sesktop went down (gmd restarted).
