I can confirm the bug: After switching around icon themes in Xubuntu (Edgy Eft with latest updates), the xfce sesktop went down (gmd restarted). I can still log in to my xfce session, but my desktop seems to be broken (no panels at all, right-click menu on desktop doesn't work, keyboard shortcuts don't work). When logging into my gnome sessions I had crash reports waiting for Thunar, Xfce-desktop and xfce-panel.
