I've solved the problem!
I've simply changed the value in the field "plugin" from "auto-detect"
to "X Window system (X11/XShm/Xv)", restarted X and the fullscreen mode
now works!

It seems my swap partition has lost its UUID after upgrading to feisty.
Both my swap, root and home partition are stored on a lvm partition.
After my upgrade to feisty I get the same error at boot and freeze for a
minute.

I set United Kingdom as the country in KDE (which didn't affect the
locales environment variables for some reason), and the problem appears.
The .po file has the proper translation in it, so KDE seems to be
