I think I've the same problem with web URLs: when I search a web page
indexed with Beagle Firefox extension, deskbar gives me the correcr URL,
for example "http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414762";. If I
click it the URL opened by the browser is

You can remove your gconf folder in the home directory and then you will e able
to use your'e account again.
The only problem with this is that all of the settings are gone.
I also now get an error message when trying to open theme manager.
The error message is:

nVidia driver. I'm going to run Envy and uninstall the driver, then try

Fixed th problem by intsalling xorg-driver-fglrx and reconfiguring by

I found the problem in my case. It has to do with the combination of
fglrx opengl, scim, and open office... kind of weird, and that's why it
took me so long to figure out. Apparently this is a LONG existing
problem since Dapper or older.
The scim-bridge workaround here works:

Thanks, this solves my problem. This is still an issue in the new
Feisty. Probably an upstream problem that no one is working on now.

The fact that the terminal is not read-only is deliberate as some
packages ask questions in their maintainer (postinst etc) scripts using
commands like "read". Because there is no policy that forbids this, we
have to support it.

GRUB doesn't
This sounds like adept allows the removal of apt without a big warning.
It should print a big warning when packages of priority "important" or
"essential" are marked for removal that this may break the system.
