Ah, it looks like this bug (if it is one, which I guess it probably
isn't) would actually be in the Gnome system defaults, as I've just
changed the shortcuts set up in Gnome from the defaults (0xa2 for play,
0xa4 for stop, 0x90 for prev, 0x99 for next) to the various XF86Audio*
keys. I assume that

I just tried something totally new. I picked up an old crt monitor and
booted a live CD and it completed the boot AND had a display output at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] THEN, while it was still up and running, I unplugged the
CRT monitor and plugged in the flat panel monitor, and it switched on !

the other workaround would be to add HorizSync and VertRefresh to the
xorg.conf and use vesa. The original reporter told that running 'sudo
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg' and accepting default values made it
work, has someone else tried that?

Problem solved. I just moved a directory where i store wallpapers, so

If I select a folder and then click "open as administrator" and type the pass,
it will open the selected folder + the root (/).

Ok, got this partly fixed in my Feisty install. If I change the "GDebi"
symlink in /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages so that is points to gdebi-
core, the command-line gdebi works, but the GTK one is still broken.
So:

Some users may not be able to boot from the live-cd at all because of
this. They'll be able to if they boot with the monitor disconnected.
This obviously doesn't fix anything, but it'll enable them to install
and fix the resolution.
