I've since upgraded to edgy and can't reproduce the bug anymore.
Gedit gets mightily slow when opening that file but it doesn't crash
anymore. (With slow I mean that it can take up to a minute to repaint
the screen after alt-tabbing away and back again).

The sheep generation/grab process is much much slower on linux than on
mac or windows. I have to leave mine running a whole night sometimes to
get new sheep in. No integrated torrent client is built in. Given that
you are having troubles with standalone electricsheep though, if you

Yep feisty... installed today from the 20070415 images. When I start it
manually (calling electricsheep), it says it's downloading sheep (yes,
my network connection is working) and spawns a couple of processes.
According to strace, the only thing these processes do is wait... some
are hanging on so

weeks now.
Also Amarok crashed on login.

I think headline and importance should be changes, acpi=off is not a
solution at all, since many function of the Notebook don't work with
that. Importance is IMHO high, since also the install CD (also

the drop-down menu for removable media got replaced by a "Eject". This
new option work fine with my pen drive, however it does not with either
my Cybershot camera or Western Digital external hard disk driv

gnome-screensaver fails to redisplay screen saver after sc
Apt does support downgrading already.
Its just a bit hidden. Use apt-get install pkg=version. E.g.:
apt-get install gnome-panel=1:2.18.1-0ubuntu3 gnome-panel-common=1.2-0ubuntu3
...
Note that the dependency reoslver will not downgrade automatically so
you will have to specify some dependenceies.
The broadcom card shipped with the Dell 1501 still doesn't work out of
box with Feisty! That's too bad since it releases tomorrow. ;- (
