It's possible to get the rt2500 working with NetworkManager via
ndiswrapper. You just need to find a copy of rt2500.sys and rt2500.inf
and use ndiswrapper to install them. A gigantic hack, but good if you're

Okay, I figured out the root of the problem: it' avahi. I removed avahi,
and rhythmbox now works smoothly even when I'm not connected to the
internet. I guess avahi needed to timeout or something before the song
could be changed. This might also be because of a configuration issue in
the default fe

Yep. update-grub script was changed. At least they were considerate
enough to leave a backup, which I restored.
Afterwards, using the edgy liveCD and learning how to mount my rootdir,
I found out that the 2.6.20 image was in fact installed. I reinstalled
grub from the edgy liveCD, and edited menu.

The problem is that foo2zjs requires mscompress and it isn't installed.
When I upgraded foo2zjs, Synaptic downloaded it and installed it. Then
it generated an error and foo2zjs was broken. I believe that older
version of foo2zjs don't require mscompress and the newer version don't
include the the d
This is technically already fixed with the gnupg update in Ubuntu.
However, the newer Enigmail handles the situation more gracefully, so I
will flag this as "Wishlist" until the more recent version gets
published for Ubuntu. Thanks!
