The text mode dialog border is garbled. ("Failed to start the X serve...")

On installation of Feisty Herd 5 to hard drive, it looks like the
problem with the installation going back to the live session even when
the button for doing a RESTART was clicked, has been fixed, now if we
could just get the problem, in that, when the message requesting that
I've checked this with the live cd (feisty desktop herd-5), and found
that if I switch the default depth in xorg.conf to 16 the problem
disappears.

I downgraded metacity, metacity and metacity-common to 2.16.3-0ubuntu2
from Edgy, but it's still slow. Perhaps there's certain rendering paths
that are slow in xorg that metacity happens to use; all I know is that

I have the same/a similar problem, running xubuntu (6.10,
2.6.17-10-generic) on an Acer TravelMate C102TCi Tablet PC. In my case
only the player freezes, everything else works fine, but I need to
reboot (!) to play videos again. Restarting X doesn't help.

I have exactly the same problem (feisty AMD64). Today I tried to use an
static IP, but it didn't work and the network must be reconfigured again
with DHCP. However, now the network manager icon show a small warning
sign, and the menu only shows the wireless networks (but I'm not
connected via wi-fi
Could you get a backtrace with the sound-juicer-dbgsym package
installed?

Reloading the hostap_pci module while in GNOME and using NetworkManager
eventually stops all keyboard input (bar sysrq) from being registered.

I've got the same problem, if I start some application e.g. Savage (game) there
is following Error:
xcb_xlib.c:50: xcb_xlib_unlock: Assertion `c->xlib.lock' failed.
I've found some other people in different german speaking forums which
have the same problem e.g with OOo. If they install the the P
adding irqpoll option did not do anything for me. Still freezing.

Under Ubuntu 6.10 (I think that was it) I had apt-get Beryl working
after I installed updated Nvidia drivers from Add/Remove. Nice fffects
.. love just dragging apps over to desktop two and watching the screen
flip to desktop two. I liked transparent window edges. Cool.
Now -
I would also love to see the manpages in Ubuntu again.
