bcm43xx is completely broken in the feisty kernel.
The reason is that it's using heavily obsolete code for bcm43xx stuff. People
keep bugging me and wasting my time with this.
There is _only_ one possible way to fix the issue:

Lukasz Bruun' s comment shows that the CUPS "usb" backend (this one
feeds "lpinfo -v" with information) looses track of the printer whereas
the printer stays visible for the kernel and the rest of the USB
subsystem.
So for me it looks like a bug in the "usb" backend. Will report it
upstream ...

Looks like a cupsys problem, it would be nice if you could provide the complete
CUPS error_log.

Here's something to patch this until it's fixed upstream. This will add
an hourly cron job that updates the timestamp on the two problematic
files. Doing this prevents apt-index-watcher from spinning on my

I am also having this problem. I am trying to install (compile) the
latest version of kpilot to fix the sync problems present in the current
Ubuntu repository version. To do this, I need the kde-devel package
installed.
I get this output when attempting to install the package:

I installed dapper to the SATA disk, but grub-install set linux to boot
from the ATA disk.
I noted also that every time a grub security upgrade is performed in
edgy, update-grub again invert the disks.

As I mentioned in the report, lsusb had no output - it simply hung. As
for dmesg I also mentioned the only lines from syslog that looked like
they might have something to do with it. Since the system was
practically unusable in that state, I moved things around to use a wired
connection on this com

The bug tracking system added spaces in front of each line of the
previous comment (at least in Konqueror) so I've attached the patch.
You can install it with the following command:
$ sudo sh apt-index-watcher-bug.shar
Uninstall the same way as in the last comment:
$ sudo rm /etc/cron.hourly/ap
I do not have a package totem-gstreamer-dbgsym available :-(

No, I have no idea, and I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem.
This is _without_ transcoding. I am currently using MPEG-4, although my
system is marginal for that. I tried, just the other day, using RTJPEG
again, and the problem persists.
