because in the strace there's many error messages about cups and printer
examples:

Which model do you have? Some HP LaserJets do not perform very well and
I have marked HPIJS as recommended driver for them.
Does gnome-cups-manager really obey the marking "recommended" for the
default driver choice?

section corresponding to my external monitor in xorg.conf:

I'm very happy to see that now also CDs which are encrypted get
automatically detected and ask for a password.

Reported the problem to the upstream author of SpliX.
A test to check whether the problem is really upstream can e done as
folows:
Uninstall Ubuntu's SpliX package and install the OpenPrinting SpliX
package:

This is not actually a bug, you are just missing build dependencies
(apt-get build-dep libtunepimp).
Also, Ubuntu now has a separate packages for MP3 support,
libtunepimp3-mp3 and libtunepimp5-mp3, so manual building is not
neccessary.
