Probably because this is the multiverse (or was it universe) tree.
A pity, yes. This problem forces me to abandon Ubuntu and use Debian. And once
I've configured it - I'm not keen to switch my production environment back
again. The more demanding user is being disappointed this way. What's better
The problem is that DistUpgrade/dist-upgrade.py still uses python2.4
(#!/usr/bin/python2.4). When changed to #!/usr/bin/python, the package
builds correctly without python2.4 dependency.

I have firefox 2.0.0.1+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10 on ubuntu 6.10 and it crashed
while trying to load a local html file containing a java applet. I have
java 1.5.0-08-0ubuntu1
After the crash I opened the file again and all seemed to work, so I
wasn't able to reproduce the crash again, but the weird thing

I've tried to apply the second patch into the source tree, but complains
that can't find the files, and ask me to input the file location:

Mine did this too, I just installed it (removed bittorrent first). This
was my first torrent download, everything started out ok, it started
downloading the torrent. When I checked back after a while I saw the
error msg that it had crashed unexpectedly. (When does a program expect
to crash anyways?

I just want to recall that in my case the "freezing black screen no access to
console" bug at boot is not systematic but once in a while and that when it
happens I just have to reboot again to go trough sometimes I have to retry
twice.

I update Kbuntu 6.10 today and still have the same version with KDE. As far
as I'm aware, speedcrunch was with Kbuntu(KDE) by default. The new version
possibly hasn't reached my mirror yet, so I'll wait and update the bug
report if the new version resolves the issue.

This problem was due to Alt being mapped by default as the ISO 3rd level
character chooser, blocking its use as a normal Alt key - i.e. switching
to a VT, using Alt-Tab to switch windows in X, killing X, using Alt+n
for menu shortcuts etc

installing the -i386 kernel in dapper gives me the same problem as i get
in edgy, however the -k7 kernel fixes it, in dapper.
i guess i will have to try upgrading to edgy again and see if using
latest ati drivers will help
