I have now fitted a computer (AMD-64 running Dapper) with an IEEE-1394

OK, I can confirm that the "non responsiveness" is limited only to the
touchpad (on my computer anyway). If I plug in a USB mouse and switch
users I can move the mouse cursor with the USB mouse, but not the
touchpad.

I built a test package for Edgy (i386) with the patches from the
upstream bug. This is supposed to fix the original issue of AGP speed
mismatch. I also included the patch for bug #28925. If someone wants to
build another flavour, the patches are in the same directory:

It turns out that on suspend/resume, the backlight control register is
clobbered to all-zeros.
The only way to fix this is to use vbetool to save/restore the BIOS
state. This is currently broken on the macbook due to the init scripts
being out of order (vbesave runs before acpid, and on macbook t

On HP nx6110 Centrino the same problem. After upgrade from edgy to
feisty the default governor is changed to performance.

Mailman 2.1.9 can be installed on an Edgy system using backports as
follows.
1) Add the following to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-backports main restricted
