What release will this switch back to vid-ide driver happen? I have
2.6.20-5 installed and it's still wanting to use pata_via.
Currently I am using -4 with a self compiled via82cxxx module and
everything is just peachy. Having to rebuild that on each kernel

I have the same problem, I'm using hu locale, but evolution is a mixed

1 - I edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf, changed DefaultDepth from 24 to 16.
2 - Logged out.
3 - ctrl-alt-backspace to restart X.
Now the progress bar is visible!

When trying to start the Ubuntu alternate install CD 6.06 on HP dc7700p,
the boot process starts then rapidily hangs.
Some forums around pointed the faulty one to be the bugged Bios on this
hardware.

So far, I've not noticed this problem in Edgy, using the same firefox
and thunderbird from the central installation on NFS. So my conclusion
is that it has to be something other than firefox or thunderbird that
consumes memory (under that process ID) or not giving it back
(X-server).
