Michael, I'm afraid I saw your comments only after successfully testing the 20070118 daily live - in other words, I know have an up-to-date system and have updates working again.
In other words, I can no longer duplicate this bug under Feisty (and was never able to under Edgy, I marked this as confirmed based on the number of reports against this in Edgy). I believe this bugs has been fixed by recent work, and, given the apparent stability of the 20070118 daily, would recommend this be marked "fix released".
