I tried to install Ubuntu 6.10 from the Live CD on a Macintosh Desktop
Machine (733 MHz PowerPC G4). There was already a second empty partition
on the Harddisk. I formatted this with gparted into "linux-swap". Then
the Installer asked, if I want

That bug is confusing. gconf is used by many GNOME applications, why
should it closed when you close that window? That window is not closed
on purpose to speed next startup, that's known upstream:

I would tend to agree with Daniel.
We have a bug with an agreed upon severity with an easy fix, with low
regression risks.
Then we have an update of the package released, without this fix!
What is the process involved here?
Can't there be a bug fix with a security update? Do we have to wait for
kdesvn 0.11.0-1 is now available in feisty.

Ok, I've played around a bit with xrestop and I think it is the
combination of firefox/thunderbird and xorg.
top gives a bit misleading indication of the Xorg server it seems,
xrestop gives about 100-250M less memory as total than what "top"
indicates.

Just to make things clear. There is in universe gnome-raw-thumbnailer
that do the job. Having it installed by default would help. BUT there is
also a bug in the thumbnailing code in gnome that make this fail with
some files like Canon CR2. That needs to be addressed upstream.

I don't know if this is a sensible observation, but it appears as if the
second run of firefox/thunderbird seem quite normal or even small in
their use of xorg memory.
(with second run, I mean: start FF/TB, use it, close it, wait until
xrestop/top show they're gone and then start FF/TB again.)

i have the same problem as shown on the screenshot.. Except beryl isn't
even installed. The fix is working. Running 6.10, with Radeon X600,
xorg-driver-fglrx.

In any case the problem was solved after I removed the cdrom and floppy
entries from /etc/fstab. However this might be a problem for people who
need devices to appear in /etc/fstab.

regression: Incorrect battery statu
Still an issue on Edgy and I guess on feisty too (changelogs don't show

There is a package fixing the bug available, the bug is fixed then. If
you think a backport should be done you can open a backport task, that's
the workflow we are using, that bug has not been wrongly closed

Noticed that this is still happening in Edgy. I receive an error
message: "Could not start rdesktop: make sure redesktop is properly
installed"
If I do an apt-get install tsclient I am then able to use rdesktop.
Does this mean that something needs to be done to configure rdesktop by
default to wo
