I see the same problem with VIA C3 750MHz CPU (Ubuntu 6.06.1 i386
server)
I found this in one discussion :
According to VIA the C3 is a native i686 cpu WITHOUT the CMOV instruction
set. Due to the fact that gcc uses the cmov instructions when -march=i686 is
used respectively if PROCESSOR_PENTIUM

It's not likely we'll accept this. The patch was against 2.6.15, and
likely wont apply cleanly. I tend to wonder why it hasn't been
integrated upstream over the term of 4 kernel releases.
We aren't in the habit of taking in patches that touch core kernel
functionality without good reason.

I replaced my USB mouse with a PS/2 one and the freeze seems to have
gone away I think that was what got rid of it. Haven't had a freeze in

Installing Konqeuror seems to fix the issue. But this is not an ideal
solution (then again, this isn't exactly a critical bug), and I still

I have the same bug when opening codeblocks projects: there file ending
is cbp but Code::Blocks uses XML for its project files.

Everything worked for me in Dapper, but now in Edgy I get this error
when a DVD movie is inserted:

As per your request, I tried to upload one of my files that doesn't
install. I got an error message saying that the file was blank! I tried
three separate files. They all seem to be blank. How could that happen?
I have moved them around but not tampered with them, that I know of.

Can you include the version of Audacity, and your desktop enviroment as
well. This crash was on a Dapper system according to the crash report, but

This is definitely broken again in Edgy. Plus the old Dapper workaround
(-fp ...) broke because the fonts moved from /usr/share/X11/fonts to
/usr/share/fonts/X11.

I have a Pentium-200 MMX machine and Yamaha OPL3SAx sound card.
I also have the same problem as mentioned by Eric that the sound card was
working okay in Breezy but does not work in Dapper as "OPL3SA2 not found or
busy" message appears.
