If the -26 kernel should be the default kernel of Dapper.1, then yes,
this should be a blocker, as this kernel is unusable for me and it seems
quite some more people.

friends because of this install/liveCD bug. Many other distro's also
have this problem. The only one that I have used lately that doesn't is
SuSe 10.1. Trying safe graphics doesn't help. The only way to install
is in text mode.
I have tracked down the bug and submitted the patch to gnome-bugs
#171938. This is my first patch ever and I'm rather curious how things
go on from here :)

Ok, I just upgraded to ia32-libs-gtk version 16.2 and undid my hack.
However, the problem is _not_ solved: I still get the same errors on
startup and the fonts in the Open dialog are still mangled. Error
messages also shows it's still trying to load modules from
/usr/lib/pango instead of /usr/lib3

I think you fixed the problem when I got you right.
Anyway just wanted to say one more thing about my case. I had another
fat32 partition on my disk and did not have to format it. I think the
problem was the old version of Linux on of the partititions that did not
get reformatted.

OK I installed the latest stable kernel from kernels.org ( 2.6.17.7),
installed the latest fglrx driver from ATI and all now works on the
Radeon Express 200.
Looking through the kernel changelogs I think this issue was fixed in
2.6.16. Anyway, this problem should be resolved if/when Dapper moves
The "print to pdf" option is fixed in yelp 2.15 (in Edgy).
Still not sure about the second issue (the resulting output being
wrong). Any more news on this?

I've tried your fix. It doesn't work for me. Boot is just longer when
initializing network... But once under Gnome, network is still not
correctly up.
iwconfig returns that my acces point is invalid. After
deactivate/reactivate, network is up.

I have a similar problem with my laptop (Edgy Eft) since a couple of
days. The screen slowly becomes gray during the boot-up and is
eventually almost white. I can't see any special event in the boot
procedure that triggers this. It normally happens at the end but also

Sounds like it's sorting by the locale code - this would be more obvious
if it did it ubiquity-style with the local name for each language.
(There is, of course, no universally-correct sort order for all local
language names.)
