It's the nvidia driver from the nvidia homepage and I had no problems with it. I removed the driver (again), switched to nv and rebooted -> "Your hardware doesen't need any restricted drivers". grep 0391 /usr/share/linux-restricted-modules/2.6.20-16-generic/modules.alias.override/nvidia alias pc

The problem changed a bit in the behaviour since feisty beta, but the result was always the same. Restricted-Manager didn't install a working Nvidia driver. The latest version of the problem is that r-m mentions that my hardware doesn't need any restricted drivers. In some older versions of r-m th

When i remove the manual installed Nvidia driver, r-m always telling me, that my hardware doesn't need any closed source drivers. BUT r-m shows when the driver is in use (after I installed it manually again). So I can't really answer your question Sitsofe Wheeler, sorry. -- nvidia.ko not found
