I've released a testing PPA (quite stable though) with some new features, which
also solves the problems you had.
You can find it here:

Specifically, current latest versions of this ppa are:

To fix this bug, you can just remove all the .conf files under
~/.config/Wallch/ and restart Wallch.

The truth isd that we should have thought that there would be this
problem to the persons that would update their application and not do a
clean install, but we didn't.
At least we will keep it in mind for the next version of the application

FYI,
I had the same problem after an update. The language turned to « Arabic ».
Using Ctrl-P as described earlier I could turn the language back to French in
my case, and it worked.

Very strange... the problem seems to have gone away without any extra
interference on my part. I guess this can be as Incomplete since there
is nothing to fix. Thank you for your help.

Everything seems quite normal... What happens when you Open Wallch, do Ctrl+P
to open the preferences, click on the middle button on the right (normally
called 'General' in English), set language to English, click the down-right
button (normally 'Save') and restart Wallch?
