Does anybody know how to do this, what was fixed about 2 years ago? I
couldn't find an option in the "Applying pending operations" window...

In terms of merging operations, only consecutive move/resize actions on
the same partition can be merged. As soon as another partition
move/resize is introduced the disk partition boundaries are changed so
we cannot simply merge non-consecutive move/resizes.

Hrm... repeated operations to the same partition already are supposed to
be optimized out. I'm confused as to what actually was going on.
Looking at the list of operations you provided, it looks like sda1 was
resized/moved around twice, and then created. That doesn't make sense
since you can't ma
In comment #6 I was referring to the timing issue, which should be a
separate bug report.
We currently have someone working on improving progress feedback which
will also impact cancelling of steps.

We welcome any assistance you might provide to assist with this problem.

Providing a remotely accurate time estimate is hard. Providing a
terrible estimate shouldn't be too difficult, and I think would be a
significant improvement.
I think the first step was actually a ~3 hour read test. It would've
been nice if it was clear at the time that it was just a read test,
Unfortunately providing a time estimate with any degree of accuracy is
extremely difficult.
Part of the challenge stems from the various interfaces used to connect
disk devices to the computer. For example a disk connected via a USB
cable is *orders* of magnitude slower than the same disk connect
Yeah, I figured it was probably possible to view pending operations
before starting. I just wish it had stuck it in my face and asked me to
confirm. It was just a really unfortunate set of circumstances for
attempting a partition move for the first time.
I'm currently at "84.70 GiB of 424.94 GiB
You can already preview all the steps it will do with View -> Pending
Operations in the menu. A time estimate would be almost impossible to
give though, as that depends on a lot of factors.
Also, there has been some tought about optimizing/folding operations in
the past, but that's not always as
