when i shift from 9.04 to 9.10
my partition(nfts formated)named with chinese characters showed incorrectly
but only "??"
for example, one of my partition named "系统system" but showed as"??system" and it
is mounted automatically in "/media/55system"
and once i want to rename it with palimpsest
ret
sysvinit in gutsy now sources /etc/default/locale before mounting
filesystems, so it will inherit your default locale. That should fix
this bug.

Does not display russian names on ntfs drive
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/8927
The locale variables aren't setup yet during boot when the volumes are
mounted. They need to be either set before mount, or explicitely by
using the 'locale' ntfs-3g mount option.
