Please make sure you have the latest linux-restricted-modules and
nvidia-glx packages if you use the nvidia drivers. You can do this by
typing the following at the terminal:
apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r` nvidia-glx
If you're unable to do this from the terminal, please try hi

Update
I have written down some info given when starting my computer
Failed to start the X server. It is likely that it is not set up
correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the
problem?
Clicking yes gives
X Window System Version 7.2.0
Fatal error running install comma
I get the very same one. It says I need to do something about the nvidia
kernel and reboot when the problem is fixed. Unfortunately I cannot get
online from the terminal window, so have no way to report the entire
bug.
