Please make sure you have the latest linux-restricted-modules and nvidia-glx packages if you use the nvidia drivers. You can do this by typing the following at the terminal:
apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r` nvidia-glx If you're unable to do this from the terminal, please try hitting Escape to interrupt GRUB when your computer loads, and selecting an older kernel image, such as 2.6.20-8.
