I don't see how this can possibly be a fault with user configuration.
The device menu shouldn't be invisible, no matter what your settings

Bilal,
Yes it's a settings issue. But I regard it as a bug in the upgrade
procedure, since the settings where ok in 11.04, but where broken in
11.10. I've not had any upgrade issue's with Ubuntu till 11.10 and liked
to "brag" about that as a selling argument for Ubuntu, now I can no

As already discussed, this is not a bug in the session menu, instead its
just a fault with user configuration. There's no issue with the ubuntu-

should open a bug about that:

This probably reflects a bug in the program.

Thank you for your bug report, what icon theme do you use (gsettings get
org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme)? Could you add your .xsession-
errors to the bug?

Same here.
Also some icon pictures are missing. The top menu theme as well as window theme
is broken.
I guess the themes are not installed correctly or are not working.

Ok. I managed to get the Icon Back by changing the Theme.
System Settings -> Appearance -> Change Themes to [Radiance] /
[Ambiance].
That worked.
Hope it works for you too.
