Thanks for these informations. Yes it really sounds like bug 61711 and
since I did not get comment from the initial reporter yet, I mark it as
such. Thanks everybody for your participation in that bug report. If
The way I interpret this bug is that it must be a duplicate of bug 61711.
As mentioned in my earlier post, removing splash from the kernel parameters
helped for me, as did editing /etc/usplash.conf to the correct values (1280x800
instead of 1280x1024). The right values aren't being set when inst
Thanks for the informations you provided to that bug report. This bug is
probably a duplicate of bug 61711. In order to help that bug getting
fixed, can you provide the following informations?
1. Does the long boot delay happens when usplash is disabled? ( You can disable
usplash for one boot tim
I had this problem (delay of 2 minutes when booting with splash) in Gutsy
gibbon kubuntu. Removing splash from the kernel parameters did help.
However, editing /etc/usplash.conf to match my screen resolution to 1280x800
and keeping the splash parameter helped as well... (It was set at 1280x1024
Sorry, removing the "splash" kernel parameter only appeared to fix the
problem on that one boot, however on subsequent boots the problem has
returned, regardless of this setting. It is likely then that usplash is
not at fault, although I am not sure what is.

in "/boot/grub/menu.lst" (by removing 'splash' parameter) appears to be
a workaround.

Regarding the wireless, my laptop has a wireless indicator light, that
is supposed to come on when the card is active. However, at the moment
it is only turning on at the same time as X is starting (i.e. after long
delay). Now you've mentioned this, I'm sure it used (in Edgy) to come on
earlier, so
I can confirm this also happens for me. Kubuntu Fiesty Herd 2 fully up
to date. Happened shortly after I got my wireless connection to work, so
at first I put it down to a delay with the adapter searching for
networks. On HP Compaq nx6324 laptop.
