Regarding the wireless, my laptop has a wireless indicator light, that is supposed to come on when the card is active. However, at the moment it is only turning on at the same time as X is starting (i.e. after long delay). Now you've mentioned this, I'm sure it used (in Edgy) to come on earlier, so this could have something to do with the delay.
