Alt+middle click doesn't resize
I've just realized that I'm partially affected by this. USB/peripheral pointing
devices seems to work, but the middle mouse button on the touchpad on my
Thinkpad T410 doesn't behave like left and right mouse buttons when I look at
it in xev.
With left and right mouse buttons ButtonPress and Butt
Not sure about that. Behavior is not as I expect.

Installing gconf-defaults-service made it work for me. This package was
brought in when i installed gconf-editor.

Soren, I apologize. I misread the bug report and wasn't aware of
Alt+middle click. However, Alt+middle click works for me for resizing
with Gnome Shell 3.1.3.

..Alt-Middle click is what I've used for year and years to resize
windows. Nowadays, when I middle click on a window (regardless of
whether I hold down Alt or not), the pointer stops moving and lets me
scroll up and down instead.
