I've just realized that I'm partially affected by this. USB/peripheral pointing devices seems to work, but the middle mouse button on the touchpad on my Thinkpad T410 doesn't behave like left and right mouse buttons when I look at it in xev. With left and right mouse buttons ButtonPress and ButtonRelease events happens/are fired as the physical button is pressed/depressed. With the middle mouse button I get both events "at the same time" (in right order) UNLESS I do a long press which essentially swallows both events, making xev sit there with nothing to report. Incredibly annoying.
