I'm curious as to why it's installed by default, even though it isn't
enabled.
I concur with bodhi and Stefan, there have been way too many machines
that have been compromised due to having vino either accidentally
enabled, or enabled without knowing that it can be set to use uPnP to
open ports on
IMHO, VNC, specifically vino, is the single most common crack I see on
the Ubuntu forums.
While VNC servers may be familiar to new users coming from Windows, and
while it may be disabled by default, it is all too easy for new users to
enable and then their router forwards the port via UPnP.

Coming across requests for help in the Ubuntu Forums almost daily, I
would agree with Irihapeti that it must not be installed by default and
that installation requires a user to read a security notice explaining
the security implications.
