Failure due to debian source repos. It is advised not to use debian
repos with ubuntu because the debian binary's are not compatible with
ubuntu.

I get this Version Nr, by typing: sudo synaptic --help :)
There is no file, in my home which is like a dump...
I have now solved the problem, I commented out the last line in my
sources.list which is a dev repo from debian. The problem began when I
write this line into my sources.list

Try the sudo rm command first see if synaptic will run after that. than
upgrade to feisty's version if you are using feisty.

if your using feisty please update synaptic to feisty's version. and
please try sudo rm /var/cache/apt/*-bin and try to run synaptic again
after that.

Hi E-B what do you mean by "for debian"? The latest feisty package is
version 0.57.11.1ubuntu2 and version 0.57.8 was released for Ubuntu
Dapper.
The core file is usually left in the current directory I think, probably
in your home directory or in the /root directory.
