Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed
I think I'm experiencing this same problem, but with the ati (open source)
driver. When it freezes, I am sometimes able to do Alt-F2 to get to the console
and kill compiz (and then continue operation), but most of the time it's a
complete freeze - requiring a reboot.
My machine is HP Pavilion dv
This might be a duplicate of Bug #773564 -- when I disabled the "File
Watcher" plugin for compiz the problem appears to have gone away.

I think I'm also affected by this bug. I'm running on a desktop system
with an ATI Radeon HD 5670. The symptoms I'm experiencing aren't a
complete hang -- the mouse cursor still works as do the Ctrl-Alt-F*
combinations to flip to the console, but the whole screen is black
(except for a small recta
How do you go to console? i've tried it, but the freeze stops all
keyboard functions as well!
