I can confirm this bug affects both my laptop and desktop - I get
multiple "cannot unmount, partition is busy" messages during shutdown,
and then my /boot partition needs recovery every time.

I have similar problem after updating to 12.04. My root partition needs
recovery after every reboot.

Since a re-install of ubuntu 11.10 one week ago an actual system does no
longer reproduce the bug: partitions are unmounted cleanly and can be
mounted without recovering.
for me, this bug could be closed since I am not able to reproduce it.

I have now Ubuntu 11.10 installed. Fresh install, partions /, /usr, /var
freshly formatted and the system could umount. However, after installing the
uptodate updates, the same behaviour as before.
I am now down to run from tty1 init 1 several times and umount -a till
the filesystems are umounte

Hi,
since this is looks like a nasty, fundamental problem, I am very much
disappointed that there has been any reaction within three months. The
problem has not gone away in the meantime and I wonder whether there
will be any help to correct the problem.
Given the fact that the lack of proper unm
The problem also shows up on the console using "init 0": for years I
could see "unmounting local filesystem", now nothing.
