These issues seem to be highly dependent on the driver used (and thus the
scanner used).
In the trace there is a warning about "device in use". Is hitting delete
actually necessary? Does it work if you just cancel a scan in progress and then
try to do another scan?

No I can't repeat it, although I have a different printer (Brother DCP-
130C). Given there is no crash file in /var/crash, can I ask you to run
a backtrace on simple-scan and replicate the crash? Please follow the
instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace, and attach the
logfile produced to
There was no Apport. Directory /var/crash is empty.
But I think theis segfault is repeatable; I can repeat it. Can you
repeat it?

Was the segfault picked up Apport? It would be great to get an Apport
retrace on it. If you open Nautilus, navigate to /var/crash, there
should be a crash file in there. If you double click on it, it will open
a new bu
