Uninstalling the libgl1-mesa-dri package using Synaptic did the trick
for me as well. I was successful in upgrading the Edgy.

I fixed it|, I merely had to uninstall the libgl1-mesa-dri package (I
used synaptic to do so.) Now I can upgrade to Edgy :)

I had this problem as well. For me, it was caused by conflicting
packages. I'm uploading my relevant log file.

I am having the same error, and I didn't remove nvidia-glx (which I
believe is supported by ubuntu) but I did remove the compiz repos from
sources.list
I ran "sudo aptitude update" as well as "sudo aptitude dist-upgrade" it
didn't look like it removed

Can't calculate the upgrade with unofficial mesa/compiz packages

OK, so that was the reason!
I've now run "sudo aptitude remove libgl1-mesa-dri" which downgraded to
6.4.1.-0ubuntu8.
This seemed to do trick!
Thank you!

Maybe xgl/compiz packages are uninstalled, but not all packages from this repo
are uninstalled.
The version of libgl1-mesa-dri installed on your computer (6.5.1-0ubuntu10)
comes from the xgl/compiz repo, the official one has 6.4.1-0ubuntu8.
So your bug is actually a duplicate of this one.

I might have used the xgl/compiz repo's once - but the packages are

Hi, me again.
Even though this 'bug' is related to repos which aren't maintained or
hosted etc by Ubuntu, it seems to have affect a few people. I suggest
that this be re-opened and a work-around built in to update-manager (if
this is possible, I don't know) that would change the
/etc/apt/sources.l
Someone is me ;)
Are you sure that you have never used the xgl/compiz repository?
Can you paste the output of "apt-cache policy libgl1-mesa-dri" please.

Someone marked "my" bug 63301 a duplicate of this one. However, I am not
certain that I am using other repo's but the official ones, meaning that
the solution provided by Mateusz is not helping me...
I have attached the logs created by the dist-upgrade

Thanks for your bug report. Your problem is most likely caused by the
packages installed from the external repositories. Unfortunately, Ubuntu
is not responsible for maintaining it and cannot ensure safe upgrade
process with third-party software installed.

The culprit is the xgl/compiz repository. It is unofficial and causes some
problems like this.
Try to remove and reinstall the problematic packages.
Also I think this bug can be rejected as these are unofficial repositories, can
someone confirm?
