I studied the comments on this bug and would like to thank all people who have
been involved in getting a patch into the backports modules.
As I would like to purchase a Wacom Bamboo Fun Medium Pen&Touch 2nd Generation,

Accepted linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 into lucid-proposed, the package
will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give
feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for
documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

For Lucid, this currently seems to be in the kernel team PPA
(https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ppa) waiting to
get to proposed and then out to updates.

Then if the backports-modules package is installed and the tablet does
not work with it, it is a new and separate bug. I will close this bug
report as the support for the backported driver (at least at some
version) is released. There may be newer tablets around that are not
supported, but that is
Yes I did. And, given the number of ppas with updated wacom drivers, I
can't be the only one. I am using

Hi Mahendra,
yes I pretty much know that Maverick will not work with those out of the box.
The problem is that there is the seourceforge driver which supports them, but
for some reason this support is not pushed upstream. I checked the most recent
upstream kernel source and it is still not there.
Stefan : thanks for your help. I wish I could test those backports
modules, but they are built against kernel 2.6.32-25 which the one in
the maverick repositories is 2.6.35-22.
Okay, it actually seems I do not need those because they are already
built in the kernel 2.6.35-22... However, I do own a

Somehow this sadly fell into the cracks. Sorry. I finally got time to
make a test version of an lbm package. It uses the sourceforge driver as
the driver from 2.6.35 has multitouch stuff in which relies on a newer
input core and that is built into the kernel. The packages are at

Per comment #2 I'm marking the linux-backports-modules-2.6.35 task as
Invalid for Maverick as the Maverick kernel is already based on 2.6.35.
I've gone ahead and added the proper linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 task
for Lucid. I'll leave it to the discretion of the Ubuntu Kernel SRU
team as to whet
Uh, disregard that. It is in the 2.6.35 kernel.
