I'm experiencing this too. I did some testing and it seems it only
happens when a window is active. If I have no windows, only the desktop
shown, this does not happen. But when I open a window and press Print
Screen, keyboard stops working. Then the top/bottom panels flicker
(sometimes disappears)
For me the gnome exits and my PC shuts down (goes into suspend?) when I
press PrintScreen...

Jeremy, unfortunately I can't test an upstream kernel as make-kpkg won't
create an initrd, which causes a kernel package whenever I compile and
run an upstream kernel. See this bug for more details:

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release
of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, please
run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal).

It appears that somehow pressing PrintScr alone trigger the magic SysReq
mode. On my laptop normally SysReq is on Fn+PrintScr. But to trigger

Additional information: the printscreen key only seems to hang the
keyboard if I have ever pressed the ALT key during the computer being
on. If I've just started the computer, I can safely use the printscreen
key until I use the ALT key - even pressing it by itself.
