I'm having the same issue. It's happened more than once. I just recently
installed 10.10 amd64 as well. I've pasted the lines from kernel
messages below. The last message was 2 hours before this happen so I am
able to completely isolate the messages related to this.

This bug has nothing to do with PulseAudio, although PulseAudio is
logging that something deeper in the software stack malfunctioned. Are
you certain there is not a sound driver issue?

I have also experienced this when surfing with firefox. I guess the
