As elmanytas said above, compiling from source and copying to
/usr/bin/praat solves the problem. Tested on Vivid 15.04

Praat can not play
I couldn't get this to work no matter what I tried.
As a workaround, I ran the windows exe through wine and it worked with
no problem - hopefully that helps others as well.

Downloading praat binary from his homepage in
http://www.fon.hum.uva.nl/praat/download_linux.html it works without
problem.
To put the binary from the homepage in /usr/bin/praat works in Lucid an
Precise.

I installed praat latest version 5.2.11-1 in ubuntu 10.10
It can record and play sounds, draw diagrams etc. I found two bugs:
1) When recordinbg mono sound from web camera you need to tick the selection
'USB Device' and the selection 48000 Hz.
After you do that for the first time, the program is
I have the same problem when I try recording sounds using a built in microphone
on my laptop.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10, Kernel 2.6.35-22.
I tried it with aoss and I could open the recording menu, but didn't get
any signal from the microphone.
