The problem experienced in that document is identical to the problem I
experienced and reproduced. When I initially attempted to file a bug

This bug is still present in 12.04 and is easily reproducible.The
workaround of changing the formatting to be "Number" does not work in
all situations and sometimes you are stuck with being unable to adjust
the axes.

I just experienced this issue in Ubuntu Maverick. It seemed to be due to
one of my data series being formatted as text, when it should have been
formatted as scientific notation. Regardless, this was not an
appropriate error message for that situation.

I have been affected by this bug after upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04.
When submitting an error report, I realized that the metapackage
"openoffice.org" had not been selected. Manually selecting it did not
solve the problem for me.
I can reproduce the problem when trying to plot an array of number
