I have been affected by this bug after upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04. When submitting an error report, I realized that the metapackage "openoffice.org" had not been selected. Manually selecting it did not solve the problem for me.
I can reproduce the problem when trying to plot an array of numbers in floating point notation that I copied from the shell (see screenshot), i.e. I obtain a chart without seeing any data values being plotted. When changing the y-axis scale, the error message pops up. Formatting the numbers as "scientific notation" eliminates the error message when changing the scale, but still does not result in the numbers being plotted. Only when I copy the numbers to a new field via a formula such as '=1.*B2' I obtain the desired (scaleable) plot.
